Zhong (柊) · Yi (意)
柊 (pronounced: jong) – An evergreen guardian shrub, its dark leaves growing waxy and firm in winter. Ancient lore placed it at boundaries to ward off negativity.
意 (pronounced: yee) – Heart-direction. Where thought resides. Awareness between breaths. Quiet companionship, day after day.
By the old wall of my hometown, there grew a humble plant called "Zhong".
It remained evergreen throughout the year, and its leaves became exceptionally stiff in winter, with a waxy sheen in the dark green color.
Grandma once said that it was the "guardian tree of the boundaries".
It could ward off evil spirits and also hold back time.
When I left home that year, I sat beneath the wall and picked a few leaves of Zhong, putting them in my diary.
On a rainy day many years later, I opened an old book, and it quietly fell out.
That faint and astringent scent stirred up a silent avalanche in the deep valley of memory — in an instant, time reversed, and one was once again standing in the wind of the past.
At that moment, I thought: perhaps true protection is never above life itself, but rather growing side by side with you, quietly blending into the rhythm of breathing.
So, "Zhong" gradually became clear —
We do not express our faith through lengthy narratives; instead, we hope to be like that cluster of Zhong at the base of the wall, providing you with the comforting presence that is within reach in your daily life.
Each bead is like an unspoken guardian; each string of bracelets is a piece of time that can be carried with you.
We have condensed this companionship into a "flowing temple" on your wrist.
Let its magnetic field become the whisper beside your pulse; let the warmth of ancient craftsmanship be close to the dawn and dusk of your life.
Zhong originates from a real cluster of plants, and also from our understanding of "companionship".
May you find your own "Zhong leaf" here.
Zhong is full of life and vitality.
